Sidney Crosby

Almost 3 weeks ago I got checked, accidentally, playing hockey.
I landed smack on my head.
Yes, I was wearing a helmet.

If I had been paying attention, I would have seen the person coming towards me.
As Don Cherry would say "keep your head up kids".

I woke up the next morning with some whip lash, and sore back, popped some Advil and went for a long xc ski.

I went about my normal routine, slipping and sliding as I walked back and forth to school. I was much more exhausted than normal. I attributed this to my ski.

Turns out the slip sliding was 'concussion' related, and the headache was not just caffeine withdrawl. I clued in on day 3.

A fine doctor told me it would be wise to take care of my brain. "It's kind of important you know!" So, I took it easy for a couple of weeks.

The headache lasted about 2 weeks as did the blackouts.

I went for a little run today. I felt 'normal'.

If you find me doing funny things, perhaps my brain isn't quite right yet!

Just call me Sidney Crosby!

Little girls, laughing

This is my favorite sound of all.

There has been so much giggling and laughter lately among the girls, it has been great.

Maya and Natasha, play these games, where to me, it seems as though they are just laughing hysterically.

Such a nice thing to hear, especially, at the end of a long day.

Is the Tooth Fairy Real?

Natasha lost her first tooth this morning before going to school.
She was so so happy.

After coming home from school she asked Grant
N: "Daddy do you think the Tooth Fairy is real?"
G: "What do you think?"
N: "I don't think it is really a Tooth Fairy. I think it is just a normal Fairy that comes and takes your teeth."

She wrote a note, put it under her pillow with her tooth.
She put her head way on the other side of the pillow... explaining ...
This way her head wouldn't be in the way for the Tooth Fairy being able to get her tooth.

How considerate.

Open 7 days a week

Laundry Land is a laundromat in our neighbourhood, that we pass by quite regularly.

For the past year, Maya has been reading the sign and is just baffled.

"It doesn't make any sense." she says.

Open 7 days a week.

"Has there always been 7 days in a week?"
"Why would you have to say that?"
"Why can't they just say 'open everyday'?"

Every time we pass by, it is as though she is reading it for the first time.
She can't help but comment and ramble on and on about it.

It makes me chuckle.

I hope they never change the sign :)

Is your bucket full???

Jaida has been learning about doing good things for others.

One day at the Metro, Jaida was pushing the cart for me.
An older gentleman stopped asked her name, chatted with her and told her what a great job she was doing, of being my helper.
She was very proud!

We picked up the rest of our groceries, and got in line at the check-out.
This gentleman spotted us on his way out.
He stopped and told Jaida how lucky I was to have such a nice little girl.
He pulled out a chocolate bar and asked her if she would like it.

He thanked her for making him smile.
Jaida said Thank you, then ran after him to give him a hug.

She walked back to me and said "That man filled my bucket!!!"
She smiled the whole walk home.

He made Jaida's day, I think Jaida made his day too!
